Student Corner - NUR-II

Mango Week was conducted for the students of classes Nur-II from 10.5.22 to 13.5.22. On 10.05.22, the children were made aware of the texture, taste, colour, season and different varieties of the fruit through an interactive PPT presentation. The students were also made to recall the different varieties of mangoes called langra, totapuri, safeda etc. On 11.5.22, the students brought numerous mango based items like aam panna, mango candies, yoghurt, juices, shakes to display. The kids gained knowledge on how one fruit can be consumed in so many different ways which taught them that tasty choices can be healthy too. A mango party too was organized for the students.

Drama provides a great platform for learning by doing. Any language comes alive while practiced in the form of a drama. Inter-House Sanskrit Kahani Manchan was organised in the same spirit to celebrate the richness and significance of one of our most classical language. Each group performed at their best where each performance was enjoyed and applauded by the audience. The colorful costumes of the participants greatly added to the show. The whole auditorium reverberated with this unique language Sanskrit and its essence. 

Art is an expression of our thoughts, emotions and desires. At GDGPS, we empower our students with this powerful medium of expression. Continuing with this practice an Inter House Art Competition ‘Shilpkar’ was organised on 12 May 2022.  ‘Shilpkar’ aimed at the creation of Lippan art, a clay art form from the state of Gujrat, India. Our young Goenkans created scintillating works using various materials such as clay mud and mirrors. 

AI Demonstration Workshop was conducted by the resource person Ms. Anu Joseph and Mr. Sahil Aggarwal from Super AI Polaris for the classes III to VIII. They explained them about Computer Vision, Natural Language Programming, AI data predictions, Chatbot and Youtube recommendations. Various projects integrated with maths and science were shown to the students like solar system, symmetry, Types of animals, friction on various open source platforms.

A session on Bully to Buddy was conducted by a renowned psychologist-Mr. Rohan Das, from Fortis Hospital. The session aimed at making the students aware about bullying and its psychological impact. It highlighted the importance of becoming a buddy to their peers. The parents too were requested through sms to render cooperation at imparting and discussing such topics at home front too.

The culmination of the Four Day Event took place with a Quiz on Shakespeare. It tested the participants knowledge on Shakespearean quotes and plays. The Quiz was indeed lively and interesting as the rounds entailed popular questions in the form of Identification, Fill Ups, Dumb Charades and Emojis. Shakespeare surely found a definite place in Goenkan hearts which was the motive behind the Event.  

A character from Harry Potter or Avenger series was picked up and brought to life through expressive performances complete with costume and props.

Selected participants from each House were given two lines of a rhyme/poem and they were required to provide a relevant and an interesting end to it. This surely brought out the innate poet in each of the participants and the result was a beautiful rendition of popular rhymes but with a twist.

The three selected participants ( from prelim round ) from each of the four Houses were asked to create a rap on any Shakespearean theme or Character accompanied by ingenious music created using available material. It was a fun event that mingled classic with contemporary and brought rhythm into the atmosphere. 

Nishika Singla of class V bagged III position in RHYYTHMIC BLISS (Solo Dance) inter school competition organized by Ahlcon public school.
