Preserving the past, Inspiring the Future! Inter-House Heritage Quiz at GDGPSED provided a link to the roots, culture and society for the students.
Evacuation drills are always helpful in rectifying the shortcomings and improving the plan. Therefore an Earthquake Mock Drill was conducted on 7th July 2023. Dr. Sanjay Singh, SPO, Climate Change & Human Health, Delhi taught children about how to act during the emergency and gave tips about do’s and don’ts. All the students and the staff (both teaching and non- teaching), participated in the drill. It took around 5 minutes for the entire school to evacuate as per the colour coded path and assemble in the Basketball Court, football field and Volleyball Court. All the members of the different teams took charge and helped in the evacuation process along with their teacher incharges. All the students actively participated in the drill by doing the "duck, cover, hold" method. The school's evacuation plan also includes using its four exit gates for the students fast and safe exit.
Not only ‘Reduce’ instead completely ‘Refuse’. The students of class VII presented a short talk in the school assembly on one of the most pressing issues which is to shun the usage of plastic from our lives completely. The fact that we should commit to using no single-use plastic was reiterated on the International Plastic Free Bag Day. All the students unanimously took a pledge to abide by it and committed to giving a little extra effort in saving the planet. Plastic free world is a better world to live in.
International plastic bag free day was celebrated on 3rd of July by the students of classes Nur-II .The objective behind conducting the assembly on this theme was basically to create awareness amongst the students to reduce the usage of plastic bags in their day to day lives and replace them, with paper/cloth /canvas bags in order to create sustainable environment for all. The students were informed about the plastic as a global catastrophe and sadly it being a man-made one. Facts like, “approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used on a global scale? Just think about how many of these bags will end up littered all over the planet were, which is having an extremely detrimental effect on the environment, wildlife and indeed human health. International Plastic Bag Free Day is dedicated to heightening awareness about these and very real and pressing issues brought about by this most popular of disposable carrying devices. We are reminded that those bags we pick up from the retailers are used for an incredibly short time, usually under 25 minutes, and are then disposed off. The teachers of nursery and kg had performed a role play on plastic bag free world to create an insight and understanding about plastic free world. The students were enriched by the information shared by their teachers in the form of role play. The role play was followed up by a paper bag making activity by classes 1 and 2 in order to inculcate the practice of using paper bags. The students were made to promise themselves and take a pledge to use paper bags in their daily lives. The students had a paper bag making activity to embark this new journey towards the plastic bag free world. Here is a glimpse of the role plays and paper bag making activity held in context to the theme. Parents were also encouraged to take the pledge for not using plastic bags and contribute to a healthy environment. Paper bags were given to the parents as a token of appreciation for making a promise to save our mother Earth.

Live green, Breathe Green, Go green. On the occasion of World Environment Day, students of G.D Goenka Public School, East Delhi designed posters to create awareness about the importance of saving our Mother Nature. The initiative was taken by students of classes III-V. They prepared captivating posters depicting various environmental issues viz. water crisis, plastic menace, deforestation, increasing use of chemicals etc. Various methods to overcome these issues and to restore the original state of our mother earth were also highlighted. The myriad posters made by the students reflected their deep concern towards the environment.
Dance is a way to let go, express oneself and connect with others. Every culture has its own unique style of dance and this was beautifully conveyed through Thirkan 2023 on Friday , 12th May, 2023 organized by G.D. Goenka Public School East Delhi. The gathering was graced by the presence of distinguished artists in the field of dance namely Ms. Shinjini Kulkarni , Mr. Pritpal Singh and Ms. Shikha Sharma who had enlightened the audience with their valuable insights leaving long lasting impression. It was awe-inspiring to witness participation of over 190 students from different schools across Delhi NCR. The performances were divided into two categories with Grade VI-VIII performing the folk dances of Japan, Columbia or Russia while Grade IX-XII performing the folk dances of France, Korea and Russia. The participants expressed their graceful movements and synchronisation by capturing the glorious cultures through folk dances characterized by lively rhythms, colourful costumes and unique choreography. The Principal, Ms Anupama Chopra in her address applauded all the performances and expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the judges for their presence and the schools for their zealous performances. Their creativity, talent and hardwork was truly remarkable and applauded by one and all.
Doodling enhances creative thoughts. It gives you rare insight into your own psyche. Through Doodling ,children learn to express their feelings and ideas. To bring out the inner talent of the students an Inter House Doodle Competition was organized. The theme of the competition was Monuments. Each house prepared an art piece under the expert guidance of their Art teachers and House teachers. The students presented their creative thoughts in the doodle art form. The primary aim of the competition was to nurture creativity and talent and to promote an artistic bent of mind amongst young artists.
A scientist is important for the world because she/he chooses to look at the world in a special way, a way that can be useful and can help us understand ourselves better. There are many approaches to exploring and appreciating the world, our scientists do it in the best ways possible. To honor them during science week , science department organized a role play wherein the participants dressed up as famous scientists of India and presented their inventions and contributions to society. Everyone got to witness and imbibe the great works and words of scientists like Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Marrie Curie, Vikram Sarabhai, and many more. It was an enlightening presentation for the audience. The participants spoke with vigor and confidence, entrapping their audience till the last minute.
